A Greek Yogurt Smoothie combines the Greek yogurt’s proteins with the natural fruit to create a refreshing treat. Greek yogurt is also full of probiotics and calcium, making it the perfect base for a smoothie.

You can blend it with a variety of fruits, like bananas, berries, or mangoes, to create different flavor combinations.

Banana and Greek yogurt smoothie.

This smoothie is an easy way to get a boost of energy and nutrients to start your day or to enjoy after a workout. With just a few simple ingredients, you can whip up a delicious, protein-packed smoothie in minutes!

Preparing this Greek Yogurt Smoothie

There’s nothing easier or more satisfying than starting your day with a creamy Greek yogurt smoothie. I love how quickly it comes together — just a handful of ingredients, one blender, and you’ve got a full low-cal breakfast.

Pineapple and Greek yogurt smoothie.

I usually start by adding my Greek yogurt to the blender, followed by sliced banana and a scoop of frozen berries (if I have them at hand). The yogurt gives it a velvety texture, while the fruit adds natural sweetness.

If I’m in the mood for something extra healthy, I’ll throw in a handful of spinach — you can’t even taste it, but it gives the smoothie a lovely nutrient boost.

Almond milk.

Next, I pour in almond milk, which keeps it light and slightly nutty, and sometimes add a drizzle of Cretan thyme honey if I want a little extra sweetness.

A spoonful of chia seeds is another favorite addition — they give the smoothie a bit of texture and keep me feeling full longer. Then, I just blend everything until smooth and creamy. If it’s too thick, I splash in a bit more milk; if I want it extra frothy, I toss in a few ice cubes and blend again.

Once it’s perfectly blended, I pour it into a tall glass, top it with extra fruit, and enjoy it right away. High in protein, rich in vitamins, and perfectly balanced, this will keep you energized for hours!

Tips and Alternatives

Peach and Greek yogurt smoothie.
  • Fruit variations
You can swap the banana for other fruits like mango, pineapple, or peaches for a tropical twist.
  • Non-dairy
If you’re dairy-free, use almond milk, coconut milk, or oat milk instead of regular milk.
  • Veggie boost
Add a handful of spinach or kale to your smoothie for a nutrient-packed green smoothie—don’t worry, the fruit will mask the taste!
  • Protein boost
For an extra protein boost, add a scoop of protein powder, nut butter, or even a tablespoon of hemp seeds.
Strawberry and Greek yogurt smoothie.
  • Sweeteners
Use stevia, agave syrup, or dates for natural sweetness instead of honey or maple syrup if you prefer a sugar-free alternative.
  • Frozen fruits: Frozen fruits help create a thicker, creamier texture, so feel free to freeze your fruits in advance for a cold, smoothie-like consistency.
