Why This Chocolate Has Gone Viral

Dubai Chocolate has taken over the internet, and for good reason! It’s a decadent fusion of silky chocolate and crispy layers of kadaifi (shredded phyllo dough), combined with the rich, nutty flavor of pistachios. The contrast of smooth and crunchy textures makes it addictive!

But buying this luxury treat from high-end chocolatiers comes with a hefty price tag. Many luxury brands sell these chocolate bars for twice or three times the cost of homemade versions.

So, why pay so much when you can make it at home easily and affordably? The best part? You don’t even need an oven! Just a few simple steps and your homemade Dubai Chocolate will taste even better than the store-bought version.

  • 80 ml sweetened condensed milk50ml heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

For the kadaifi & pistachio filling

  • 100 g kadaifi (shredded phyllo dough)
  • 40 g butter (melted)
  • 80 g crushed pistachios
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional, for extra flavor)

Optional for garnish or topping

You can pick any of the following:

  • Extra crushed pistachios
  • Cocoa powder or melted chocolate drizzle
  • Gold leaf flakes (optional, for a luxury touch)

How to Make Dubai Chocolate at Home

Step 1: Prepare the kadaifi & pistachio layer

  • Preheat the oven to 160°C (320°F).
  • Place the kadaifi (kataifi) in a bowl and gently separate the strands with your fingers.
  • Pour the melted butter over the kadaifi and toss well to coat evenly.
  • Spread the kadaifi on a baking tray and bake for 10-12 minutes until lightly golden and crispy.
  • Remove from the oven and mix with crushed pistachios, honey, and cinnamon (if using).
  • Set aside to cool.

Step 2: Make the chocolate mixture

  • In a heatproof bowl, add the dark and milk chocolate.
  • Place the bowl over a double boiler (a pot of simmering water) and stir until melted.
  • Alternatively, microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring between each session until smooth.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the butter, sweetened condensed milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.
  • Mix until fully combined and glossy.

Step 3: Assemble the Dubai chocolate

  • Line a small square or rectangular mold (or a loaf pan) with parchment paper. You can also use individual molds in silicone.
  • Pour half of the melted chocolate mixture into the mold and spread evenly.
  • Sprinkle the crunchy kadaifi & pistachio mixture over the chocolate layer, pressing down slightly so it sticks.
  • Pour the remaining chocolate over the top and smooth it out.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 3-4 hours (or overnight) until fully set.

Step 4: Slice and serve

  • Once set, remove from the fridge and lift the chocolate from the mold.
  • Cut into small squares or bars with a sharp knife.
  • Dust with cocoa powder, sprinkle with extra pistachios or drizzle with melted chocolate for a final touch.

Tips for the Best Dubai Chocolate

  • Use high-quality chocolate
The better the chocolate, the richer the taste! Opt for at least 55-70% cocoa for the perfect balance.
  • Don’t skip the butter
It gives the chocolate a smooth, truffle-like texture.
  • Toast the kadaifi well
This enhances the crunch and prevents it from becoming soggy inside the chocolate.
  • Don’t overheat the chocolate
If using the microwave, heat in short bursts and stir in between to avoid burning.
  • Chill for at least 3 hours
This helps the chocolate set properly for that smooth, fudgy texture.
  • Customize it!
Add a pinch of espresso powder for a bolder flavor, or drizzle with caramel for extra indulgence.
Add orange zest for a citrusy twist or a pinch of cardamom for extra Middle Eastern flavor.

This Homemade Dubai Chocolate is the perfect luxurious treat you can make in minutes!
